Rocket Poop
The day my baby rocket pooped across her room is a moment I will never forget! There are some things you can just never quite be prepared for. This is totally one of those moments.
It was 3am and we had been home from the hospital for 23 days. My husband and I were barely functioning on the little amount of sleep we had gotten.
Our new, beautiful baby girl starts crying, so I roll out of bed and scoop her up. I mombie walk from our bedroom to the nursery and lay her on the changing table.
As I’ve done a hundred times before I unzip her sleeper and get the new diaper ready, but I wasn’t quite ready for what happened next. As I take off the old diaper I hear a fart that should not be able to come from any 7 lb tiny human.
This was not just a loud fart! I quickly realize my hand is wet and my baby has just pooped, rocket pooped! The poop went across my hand, across the room, through the doorway, and into the hall!
I am shocked! I am holding the baby with my clean hand and the other covered in poo, so I do what anyone would do. I yell for backup!
I yell for my husband who, of course, has been sound asleep through this epic explosion. My yelling startles him awake. He rolls out of bed and stumbles towards the nursery.
As he is blinded by the hall light, I tell him to watch his step.
You can see the look of confusion on his face. I can’t help but laugh by this point and through the laughter I begin trying to explain what is going on. There is no need to explain though because you wouldn’t believe it, she does it again!
Then my husband also in shock helps clean me off so that I can finish cleaning our baby while he cleans the floor, the door, and the wall!
You just never know what surprises motherhood might have in store for you.
Like I said there are just some things you can never quite be prepared for, so when you are at home with your newborn at 3 am and you’re barely functioning, just be warned there’s a chance of rocket poop!
